On a poster board or large sheet of paper, write or draw things that are true about God. What great things has He done? (He created the world. He loves us. He sent His son to die on the cross for us.) When we say things that are true about God with admiration, we are praising God. Display the word/picture collage to remind the family to praise God especially during the Christmas season.
Read: Mary responded,“Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!” Luke 1: 46-47
Ask: Mary sang a song of praise to God called The Magnificat. Why do you think she was praising God after hearing that she would be the mother of Jesus? Is it important to praise God? Why?
Pray: God, we praise you. You are so mighty and strong and holy. You created this beautiful world for us. You sent your son for us. You love us. Thank you, God. Amen.
Other Things to Do:
*Read the entire Magnificat- Luke 1:46-55
*Write your own praise song. Practice singing it together.
*Have a praise party. Crank up the music and dance. Celebrate the great things that God has done.
